Bedtime Routine Is KEY

So what does a good bedtime regime look like?

Bedtime routine is SO important and often underestimated just how important it is especially with regards to sleeping habits.

Bedtime should most importantly be personalised to your family and incorporate your values and your lifestyle - it should be a nice calming time with your little bears before bedtime itself.

Bedtimes can be a minefield and very challenging and you may be wondering if bedtimes are just “hard” and that's just how it is but this is where I come in and no bedtime does not have to be long or draining for all.

Here are a few things which can hugely help:-

CONSISTENCY - absolute key to success with any given bedtime regime regardless of how outnumbered you are come bedtime. Read books or listen to music/calming lullabies to wind down for bed together as a family. Do a staggered bedtime to help when you have more than one child.

Audio books/TV - can be a good way to help your older child to wind down for bedtime. Have a secret saying or a special phrase that you as parent/parents say to your child before they go off to bed and do this consistently each night as this will help them to know that bedtime is coming and give them that assurance and security before bed. Lovely thing to start doing even with younger babies.

Toddlers - Try things like offering them to choose out their own PJ’s and choose what bedtime story/lullabies you are going to do.

Bathtime before bed - this can be hugely helpful for both siblings or only child to have some fun in the bath and is a lovely thing to do as a family and really helps children recognise that bedtime is coming and wind down for bed.

FINALLY - do not overcomplicate bedtime. Try have some nice time as a family at bedtime and aim to have bedtime as a nice end to the day to help everyone settle and feel secure and content prior to a good nights sleep.

If you are still feeling stuck with bedtime regime then reach out to myself for some more guidance and advice which is personalised to you as a family whether you have one child or multiple children. Bedtime routine is a huge part of my journey with clients doing packages with myself.
